new SC owner

Post by Griffin »

Well after a long search I am the happy (ecstatic) new owner of a 63 SC.
I bought it from Lismore but prior to that was in Melbourne for a few years and also in Sydney (Newtown), will be a daily driver for me. Based in Sydney inner west.
It will keep the ratty look but keen to get it running a bit better, also handling better as picks up a back wheel when going over speed bumps on an angle so guessing new shocks needed.
Basic specs as below
1600 TP engine with vintage speed exhaust (single outlet)
Disc front end
Basic height adjust
Fuch rims
Safari windows

Initial plans / questions are
Dual Carb - for a basic 1600 wil 34 Kadron / webers be okay? And are these hard to fit (cant be too hard) and tune?
Wiper unit to suit Safari - where to buy?

Yes, recently listed on eBay? Did the hoops and tilt come with the deal?
Looks like a great SC for a reasonable price..... :D

Hi all
Yes an ebay buy, bought it and drove her home.
Came with the hoops and canopy but a bit like driving a boat with the canopy on, acts like a giant sail :)

Keen to get the carbs sorted if anyone has any suggestions as to if 34, 40 or 44 carbs as opposed to the single currently fitted

Just built a motor for my bus 1776
Used a set of 34 ICT Webers with a CSP bellcrank linkage, modified CB Performance air cleaners
Easy to fit,easy to tune
Depending on which style of manifolds you use you may have clearance issues with the fan shroud (air cleaners touch)
However this is only if you are using the original 1600tp doghouse fan shroud, aftermarket shrouds have no problems with clearance
This a perfect setup for a 1600tp especially a daily driver
Congratulations on the SC looks great :D

Cheers,
Pete

I think juri owned it as well, and probably muller...

I used to see it around here all the time, surprised the guy sold it, think he owns a 2nd hand furniture and building material shop...

Welcome and cool ride...

Good times in splits back then, most were pretty dirty and average, but cheap as... i remember buying a 66 irsd, fuchs and registered for 7k... drove it byron to sydney and back 4 or 5 times a year...

Hi
Hoops and cover - sorry although I doubt if I will use often I will hang onto them.
Previous Owner - Adam from Lismore, top guy and yes has a 2nd hand business there.
Map holder - alas no, you can see where it was (remnants of pop rivets) only.

Will add a few bits looking to buy next.

quick update on my daily driver.. gave her a bit of a Christmas freshen up
motor rebuilt and twin 34ICT fitted, along with barrel kit to 1760 and mild cam
new rear shocks to remove the kangaroo affect
found these red seat covers on ebay, bit of a bugger to fit but look miles better. I have the old ones if anyone wants for free otherwise will chuck in the bin - they are white 1/3 2/3 with a texas style motif
old roof rack, good wirebrush to get rid of the rust, new timber and looks the biz, also means I can carry some decent lengths of timber etc
new 3 spoke allow wheel

cheers
