Hello all

Finally made it onto the forum (thanks Cam!). I’ve recently started toying with the idea of getting a kombi (ideally a splitty) and thought this would be a good place to start (or from my wife's perspective, get talked out of it!).

The short version is that I inherited the car gene from my late father and have had an early 911 parked in the garage for a bit over a decade.

So now I’m thinking about the next project… similar to the way I did my 911, I’m looking at the cheaper entry points and doing things over a number of years (even though it normally ends up costing more than buying something already done). Hoping I can get something that is more metal and less rust as I don’t know how to weld (yet?). Leaning more towards a ‘rat’ of sorts (keeping nice paint shiny is hard enough on a little 911!!) with the intention to work over the suspension to make it handle better than the one we hired the other weekend…

Ok, let the laughter and educating begin!

Rich

yeah you're right there. was a very common question way back when my 911 was red instead of green. only took me 5 or 6 years to get that painted.

will see what happens... need to find the right project first!
