My '63 SC

Thought I would share a couple of pictures of my SC taken at the German Unification day in Canberra.

By the way this vehicle took out 2nd place at the nationals in 2005. At present it is off the road to get an IRS and 1600 engine. Will post more when that happens.

I didn't do the panel, paint and deck myself. I did do the interior assembly of all bits after the paint and all electrical. The gates are still around, currently out at Volksparts here in Bungendore. They were bent lengthwise and fairly well rusted out even though they did not look it in the photo. It was the good side. The bend was both front to rear and inside to outside. When standing around with Nick from Volksparts we decided to have a go at jarah floor boards as the deck, bolted straight on to the cross members complete with stainless steel edging and tie downs. Thought it would look OK and does. Can be changed back to original without much effort if I want to go down that road in the future.

Maybe one day I'll have a go at restoring the gates but it will be a much larger job than the decking that we came up with.

The other work done during the resto was a complete overhaul of just about everything. Gearbox, steering, brakes etc. Nick from out at Volksparts says that it is the best split he has ever driven. It certainly is tight and tracks extremely well. I have only driven a couple of splits and that was a long time ago in the RAAF so I don't have a benchmark. It is sweet to drive.
