Hey Al thats very nice...like all your work - Awsome! 8)
Have I missed something, I haven't been able to access you webpage (DasRestoHaus)with all the current resto pics lately?

Wow, excellent stuff, Al. :D
So how much HP do you think that motor will develop?
Surely properly mapping the EFI should really squeeze the most out of the motor.

G'day Brent, yeah the host has been moving all their websites across to new servers. It has been a bit frustrating as I now have a massive backlog of photos to upload whenever it does come back online! Hopefully soon....if not, will have to change hosts.

Hey Andy, engine made 110hp at the rear wheels on only 4psi of boost at 4500rpm so it is a real stump puller which is what it was designed to be. We have to add another idler pulley to get some more belt wrap around the crank pulley to stop a bit of belt slip and make a few more tweaks....it will then be retuned with more boost (smaller supercharger pulley) and should make 120-130hp. Absolute value of HP is not a primary concern as each dyno is different - for example some of our previous customer's engines have made 80-85hp and all have been 2054 to 2160cc on that dyno. My stock 1600 twin port in the ghia made 39hp :)

Now time to start sorting out the teething problems that come with such a custom build...but here is proof that it actually runs finally!!

Nice!
Should be a great mover.

We had to play around with belt orientation and pulley positions to eliminate the belt slip and this was achieved today by having the dynamic tensioner on the "slack side" close to the crank pulley and also changing the idler pulley postions.

Still on a 'safe tune' the engine is sounding good and has more torque and responsiveness than I expected. Looking forward to having it retuned/mapped with some more boost once we get the rest of the bus/engine ancillaries sorted.

Hi Al,
Any feedback on the front end yet, after your limited road test...?

Cheers Tony

So far so good Tony but we need to finalise some of the underpinnings (brakes, wheel alignment etc) before pushing it. Since there has been so many custom mods to the bus, we have to go through everything with a fine tooth comb before giving it a thorough hiding.

We have 5 front ends on order hopefully be complete in around a month just as a side note.

It really does sound good.
How much boost do you plan on pushing it to? 6psi or the like?

The motor will handle up to 10psi quite easily - we will aim probably for around 8psi.

Thanks Al,
Sounds good.
Hope to call in over the Vic. Sept. school holidays during my family holiday in Byron..

It's interesting how much even a relatively moderate amount of boost can do for a motor.
Of course, should you get bored you can try the Peter Keegan approach......26psi into an old speed stroker with a magnesium case.

Andy, we are currently restoring the body of Peter Keegan's Camel sponsored chop top....so I a guess I am feeling a bit of supercharger love at the moment. We won't quite emulate his feats with Armando's bus, however still like to think we are breaking a bit of new ground with the "new school" superchargers on an air cooled engine.

Wow, great to see that car being resurrected.
Will it be returned to it's former glory?
Have you met Peter or Bryan, his brother, who did the sloper job on th car?
Bryan did a lot of rust work on my '67 and is a top bloke.
Peter is still cagey about that motor.
He didn't give up much info when I met him and it was a feral car.
Had to be to kill all those Falcon and Mustang drag cars.
