You're a good man Wally.
The bus speaks volumes for your attention to detail. You did the right stuff from go to woa and have a beautiful thing to show for your huge effort. I only realised yesterday what you started with. I remember seeing pics of that bus with graf all over it and thinking what a huge job was in store for someone.
The biggest blast for me is seeing the interior in the bus. It's weird doing an interior in Melbourne and not being able to see it live in the car, cos the car is 2000klms away. That's the way things seem to be going from this end though. Motor trimming by remote.
Thanks so much for the opportunity. Real happy to be assoc.
P.S. It's BuSNBug Interiors. Thanks for the plug Wal.

Hey Wally,

Were the safai's new? If so did you have to change the glass to get it through a roadworthy.

I will be getting mine registered in the next month and I am concerned they will knock back the glass that is provided with the aftermarket Safari's. (and I am getting mixed answers on the subject)

Thanks

im under the impression you can have the same as original say its stock
for historic plates, same law as seat belts pre 60's

The glass that came with them has a date on it of about 2004 so the Transport Dept may baulk at them. Did you have any problems with the Pilkington Glass fitting the frames? (Is the toughened glass to thick?)

You mentioned Historic plates, is normal registration the same?

Sorry to pick on you Wally but you have just been through all this.

Thanks

bobby the toughen glass is the thickness you ask for for the safaris as pilkington does ford & holden if im right, (dont worry about historical too much trouble).
i had mine done here nsw so dont have go over the pits like in qld but i
would say no problems really but you should give roy at classic vw pacific a ring as he has done a few with safaris up there & he supplies them too
number is (07)55354427 or get him on kombi club site
hope this helps
we were going to get historical but you have to be a member of a registered car club & your car has to be stock(i think) plus you are
only allowed a certain amount of milage per year plus you have to log in with your club each time you go for a drive plus keep a log, some of this might be wrong but as accurate as i know, we just want to drive whenever we like.

Wally,

I purchased the Safari's off roy and he tells me he has not heard of a problem, but I think a lot of the ones he has sold have been installed on already registered rides.

Thanks for your help and looking forward to seeing your bus at Valla.

bobby have a look for the stamp to see if it has toughened glass on it
or pilkingtons stamp on it, if so i would say its okay as pilkingtons is a
worldwide glass company that amongst other things specialise in the
motor industry glass for vehicles.
