I just finished installing a CDI system, for years I've been told they're only really suited to Turbo/blown applications due to the strong spark and reliable burn. To be honest it suits a N/A engine too, gone is the shitty lag off idle and fluttery bullshit (and that was a performance Mallory big cap unit) .Now the engine pulls hard from idle and I'm sure I've picked up at least 10hp and a bunch of torque. Running the engine at Leon's motors next month will prove me right or wrong. All I know is this engine hauls like never before .
I did want to keep copper leads and stock type dissys for old Skool's sake , but what the hey, it's about HP and drivability now.
I would recommend this mod for any engine, whatever the spec.

My 6al box and HVC was bought from gum tree $300 and new dissy + new wires from the US $350 delivered. Not bad I reckon.

I did a Dyno day at Leon's motors a few weeks ago, The car made the same HP as a year ago so I'm happy with that.

The first run (in red) was in Third , don't know what he did but it was hammered and over revved ..(thank christ for the 6al limiter). The other runs were in top gear which was a nail biting experience. Wheel speeds at a touch off 200 kph isn't something i want to see again, it's not a fucking race car.

Good fun day out , but last time it goes on rollers unless i make significant engine mods.. OR unless I'm on the throttle.
