Super clean mate, you must be really happy with the progress. It will be on the road before you know it!
Was it an SA bus?

Thanks mate, Morts found it in Mclaren Vale, I don’t know much about its history other than that.

Colour! Sure it’s underneath but still stoked to see some colour on this bus. 2 coats of epoxy and then 3 coats of topcoat. I was a bit worried at first that the colour was too light but it’s come out really nice. This isn’t the colour of the bus, I was just trying to replicate a primer look, It will be a satin finish but these pics are fresh off the gun so still has some gloss. Painting went really well in the makeshift booth with some LED lights and a bar heater. It’s not perfect but for a first timer I’m super happy, thanks to Wiz for the coaching, couldn’t have done it without him.

Don’t be silly, I’m not a monster. This is reno flanny 3/7. It is one of the nicer ones though.

Started by stripping the roof back today, unfortunately the blaster had laid the etch on thick as hell so was hard work getting it off even with three guys on the job. Then when the etch was finally off there was rust under it so had to treat the metal before painting.

Thanks again to Wiz for helping out for the last couple of weeks. I probably should have got more done but the guys a bit slow around the garage . Was great fun learning a few more tricks from the Wiz, this bus will definitely be done before he’s dead.

You bought this bus Matt in 2012 after a “3-4 year search” takes it back to 2008 worse case scenario.

In that time, I’ve had four dogs (two died of old age and one from being kicked in the head by a cow) but we only ever had one dog at a time. The current dog is two years old.

How many more dogs have to die before this bus is on the road Matt!
Stuff Wiz, has the dog got chance still!

Wiz has left the building. I’ve been flying solo trying to remember everything Wiz taught me.

Front of the bus back to bare metal all the way up to the roof

Then I had a couple of hours today to rust convert, mask and paint. 3 coats of epoxy on, still no runs :)

That will be it for a week, we’re of to Singapore for the F1, I think I’ll get a day or two in the garage when we get back to try and get the sides in epoxy.

Sorry for no updates for a bit. No work on the body but lots of top secret work on the engine/shroud and tinware. Nursing a couple of busted ribs at the moment So no body work but making progress all the same.

Looking to get stuck into filler work after Christmas and get this thing in paint next year, even if it’s just to prove Cheeseboard wrong.
