You going to leave the box black Steve or are you in for a “fun” paint stripping session? At least it’s been cleaned already.

Safari's completed: NOS sigla glass!
pop-outs - all seals , ready to install. All that is needed is a bus! Best lube by far for inserting rubbers- talcum powder!

You know your resto has taken too long when it looks like Steve Will have his bus done before yours! Looking great Steve, let me know if you want some extra hands getting the big/heavy bits back in the bus.

Don't worry about the rear seats Steve we'll use back there for beer storage.

I bet you will not like to take that original sticker off of the safari window glass, that's gotta be the NOS guy's fatal flaw, I would like to see how you get around it, take the sticker off or leave it on? 211 845 103c , bring it to Volksfest mate and we will have a sticker scrape off ceremony . As soon as that glass was fitted it became “the glass formerly known as NOS”.

Thanks for the prompt Ian- have had a go at restoring the original steering wheel, why not? Came out all right I think- lots of tips on you tube etc. I used araldite to re-shape the finger detents, and epoxy for the cracks. The parallel decorative ridges were the most tricky. silver beige.

If it doesn't last too bad, I will use it as the daily drive wheel, keep the NOS one as NOS!. happy with that Matt?

progress of a sort- the engine bay now ready for the tank, painted grey with vw felt packing cut from stuff I salvaged from an oval window years ago. Pics show the fabricated seat belt brackets - sharp eyes can tell they are not a factory install, if you look closely at the pressings in the factory install (check out the engine bay pic in 67Dubs build) the stiffening ribs stop above the bracket.

also, for the sharp eyed- yes the longitudinals at the rear have been re-inforced to take a tow bar- as some know I have an Eriba Puck that last saw the road in the 90's when I towed it to Nambucca behind a 15 window. I wish I still had that bus!
