RUSTY dc

Post by red hot bus »

Iv'e always wanted a dual cab so I thought i would restore this one first before the other buses. so yesterday I pushed it out from under the tree, got the rusty front doors of and any other loose parts. rolled the 58 ute out of the shed pushed the dc up to the shed, took the rear axel out of the dc and into the 58 bus and rolled that out to the basketball court/kombi carpark. then today i started pulling the dc apart.

haha cool looks like a typical dc build , bay dc/sc subframe sections can be used to replace splitty stuff there just a little longer , lowlight sections are the best

Thanks for the tips FrankenCab. done a bit more to it tried to put it on my rotisserie but the chassis just crumbled, so i am getting some made up and should be ready for me to start welding in next week sometime. then the front basically fell of and the roof is stuffed. so i am hopefully buying the front cab off a single cab from Michael (botcolon) if i can work out how to get it to adelaide.
cheers Cooper

you could also use a bus (window , panel) and keep the chassis and bulkhead intact inc floor and drop the dc rear section on top that way it is easier to align , going thru this at the moment with my 61 (well in a year or 2), the only difference is where the rear seat is in a bus as the floor ribbing that goes over torsion housing has diff spacing ..you could cut n splice a bus one to match as it follows into engine compartment which is alos slightly diff :)

dam you've got me thinking now i did think about chopping the back of the 58 and doing that but then im really just turning a bus into a dc rather than restoring one as the bulkhead on this is really the only piece that is staying all the rear section will need to be new. plus i've just ordered the chassis.
thanks Cooper

Holly F$&K.
You may as well chop half of the bus... Attach to the DC & make it a triple cab

just about collected a lot of the main parts to start building my double door, semaphore, double cab. i went and collected the double door chassis and striped it down to what i wanted. had the cab part of a single cab delivered and when i was picking up my gates i won on ebay andrew gave me the back part of a single cab which should have alot of parts i will need. now i just have to put the puzzle together.
