Ratty Limo 66 Splitter
Ive never really been a big splitter fan, 1, cause I grew up with them and 2, Im over 6 foot and pretty fat, old, grumpy, and find confined spaces scarey.
But after spending the last 12 years building and repairing customers splitters I couldnt resist and finally build one for myself, based on the size of my ego. It was quite a basket case when we brought it to the shop. Its started out as a 66 microbus someone was throwing away.
It took three really nasty splits to create this and several hard months of work.
Its IRS'd with adjustable rear spring plates, drop plates and a adjustable ball joint beam. Up front its power discs and late drums on the rear. I desided to leave this one ratty just so I could save several thousand dollars on paint and trim and this has allowed me to start another one with a few more windows and a couple more doors.
The plan is to trim the inside a little rustic and the sound system is very 60s.
It runs long or dropped sills for both strength and looks, near all underneath is brand new steel. Lowered front steps and a lowered front bar adds to its sweet long low look.
Its was fun to build as I have a good crew to work with.
Its 1220mm longer in the wheel base.

Here are a few pictures of the build. As I mentioned, as its a personal build not many photos were taken.
Three buses were used. One really rotten one (front) the rear had a very rotten and damaged front and the third one was a bus hit in the side hard around 1978 and it rolled and left to rust away.
We used it for some chassis rails, some turret door striker areas and check strap area. front doors, till we find some a little more in keeping with the rest of the color scheme.
Thanks for your interest.

- Bigs sills help keep the look rightish due to the length now and are good for the added strength.
