Ended up with hole in the piston. Took it apart under the watchful eye of Mr Berry and it's now on the shed floor in boxes. Rebuild with all new internals is on the cards when I save the $$$ hopefully get to do some of the rebuild with Matt supervising.
Woah! Where was that from?
The motor or the hole in the piston ?

Piston has failed, hasn't hit or been hit by anything, El cheapo pistons with no markings on them.

I should of asked the question better, where was the motor from, as in who built it? Is there warranty for the piston?

The joys of buying secondhand. Was told it was a good motor, bought from a dubber. So no warranty and a decent hole in the wallet, that said, I bought it a fair while ago. shit thing is , it was bench run , then ran for a couple hours in the car whilst tuning carbies and setting up and all seemed fine. 5 Kim's into the first test drive and boom.
At least rebuilding it with Matt, I'll know exactly what's inside it and get to learn a bit from a guru.
