Cheers everyone! Yep she knows how much I’ve wanted this and also knows the value added is definitely not lost but I do agree with you Cheeseboard, I don’t think I’m going to be too accurate on the running tab…

Took a break to Surfers Paradise with the family for the last week but still managed to sneak in a quick visit to John Sherman at Volks Conversions to check out his disc brake kits and what not…man he knows his stuff!!

Anyone else on here installed one of his kits? Front only or front and rear? Worth adding a booster?

We have his brakes up front and drums down back and live on a steep hill. Brakes still stop me four years on.

He is the go to man.

Bet that wasn’t a quick visit, he sure likes his chats on the phone. Couldn’t imagine in person

Welcome aboard & good luck with the project.
Plenty of experienced & friendly people here, so don't be afraid to ask questions. It'll save you the pain of buying parts two or three times.
Tony.

Started cutting out floor, heater tube, etc. Going to replace both rear chassis sections and complete floor brace assembly along with the sill/rocker panel below cargo doors, then weld in cradle and torsion tube so that I can bolt her on to rotisserie the same as Braddick’s setup (thanks for the pics/info Brad!)

Update on Penny:
Joe has popped over a couple of times and given me a bit of guidance on how to support the bus and get it prepped for rear chassis sections to go in.
Cut out a bit more of the floor, welded up a temporary support frame and then set up my laser in the shed so that I could measure down from roof line, waist line, etc a bunch of times to check that she’s sitting level and even. I’m within 2-3mm the whole way around so I think that’s close enough for doing chassis?

Not sure how much to cut out around the very back end where the D Pillar gussets and valance sections are still there…they’ll need to come out for the chassis to go in obviously but don’t want to cut too much out and have the back end all out of alignment, both corners have copped a beating but particularly the rear right and already results in it flaring out a fair bit out of line…

I’m replacing or buying new as it’s just missing the following:
left and right engine cover (ski jump looking things)
Rear valance and the triangle support brackets it bolts on to
Battery trays on both sides
Corner panels on both sides up to waistline
Some (or all) of right wheelhouse?

FINALLY managed to spend a day in the shed after a very busy few months!
Finished off the set of rims I bought off marketplace with some replacement hubcap clips
Cut a bit neater line at the bottom of the bulk head to make life easier when welding in a new piece later
Removed a few more bits off the chassis…and discovered that Brad actually included a bit of land as part of the sale!(all that crap on the floor came out of the front chassis section!!! :D
Cut out a bit more around engine bay
Did a bit more work on the rear torsion tube ends off the donor parts so I can install them with the new rear chassis sections…
