Finally had the nerve to make sum noise...

Getting very close to Painting. Have been blocking.
I need to pick up more garnet so I can sandblast some areas that are hard to sand with paper.

Its a shame I have stuff all time atm... I just want to keep making progress.
I was hoping to have atleast the primer/surfacer on before I posted again.

these pics don't do the paint justice, looks so much sweeter in the naked eyes. I had to use the flash && that just totally screws with the ambiance's of colour

Great work, especially the roof repair. I too have to do the same on my 56 and was wondering where you got that inner roof strengthener from that sits between the gutter and the roof panel. I notice that it looks to be zinc alume steel. Did you bend this piece up? And if so was wanting profile dimensions if it wasn't too much trouble.

Also when you did the block sanding did you virtually cover the whole panel with filler or is that white paint?

One last question, how the hell did you get the roof repairs so straight without much warp. Is there a secret you wish to tell before I go to do mine. This would be much appreciated.

I suggest getting the inner gutter strengthener folded from a sheetmetal fabricator that can bend up to that length. I got them made in ZincAlume, but I did want them in ZincAneal, it is much easier to weld.
The place I got them folded have an Automated folder which is a lot cheaper than paying labor for someone to fold it manually.

Yes that is a lightweight filler not white paint, I spread it across the panels and used a 36grit with a block sander ( I think it was 400mm long) After it just dries, but not completely dry..I sanded in a X pattern diagonally accross the panels Its easier to block that way. I kept doin this several times until I got it close to even across the panel. After getting close without highs n lows I sanded with 36 to get down the uneven filler spread marks then switch to 60grit then 80grit. then finally used 80grit on DualAction sander, Its up to you how far you want to go. Its a very long process. You need both eyes and a good hand to feel the highs n lows, I found it was good to spray a thin coat of primer that has a diff colour, holding a floodlight along the side. Works best in a dark area. this will show the finest little imperfections

Weld on the lowest setting that still gives a good penetration. I have a cigweld 200Amp I used it on 1 Voltage and around 5-6 Wirespeed and used .6mm wire, spread out the welds without shrinking either side of metal. Take your time, its not hard work, just takes forever to weld. Have patience.
