Made a lot of progress in a short time. The 1200 (with extractors!) has been fitted, brakes, suspension, fuel line and other sundry items made good and got a permit to drive it home.
Ran out of fuel less than 1km after picking up.......
I now know what all those who have gone before have experienced when getting a split on the road for the first time - you could not wipe the smile off my face - still can't!
Gearbox is also good and hubs don't whine (yet, anyway!) and was really surprised how perky it was - went up hills better than the kg!
Steering isn't great though and had sweaty palms by the time I got home...

Have you checked out your tie rod ends and center pin on your steering?
Center pin can cause lots of play in the steering. so you should get that sorted too if its knack'd otherwise a rebuild of the box won't sort your issues with the steering mate.
Since the initial spruce up I have been dabbling in trying to bring back the og paint. Under the trim line the og Pearl White is under the brushed on red

The trims are all there but have been painted red on the underside and and are also quite pitted in places.
I found the best way to clean up the trims was 1000 grit wet and dry with thinners followed by 0000 steel wool and thinners and was very happy with the end result.
A few applications of Motsenbeckers No. 4 grafitti remover and a razor blade followed by 1200 wet and dry then 1500 wet and dry then a fine cutting polish (and some elbow grease!!) did the job on the paint.
Under the trim there were patches of bare metal which were sanded then used a dioxidine followed by etch primer to protect.
Probably done a third of the belt line - just one of those stick at it jobs

Nice work, get that red off! You might want to check your drag link as Ive found that 90% of the wobbles come from there. If there's movement anywhere else in the tie rods etc then the drag link will definitely be stuffed too.
