59 Split 11 Window - Resto

Post by chillax »

Hi Guys
First up, sorry for taking so long to put the old girl on DSK. It has been on KC for a while and I just had to get around to putting it on here :D

I finally found a Splitty from the evilbay. It was in the middle of nowhere in Crows Nest and was quite an adventure to find. We will be slowly restoring her back to her former glory.
All the history I know on her is that she has been undercover in a garage for 15 years at Crows Nest as a cubby house.
She has been fully painted in house paint over that time (hence the flowers) which has done a pretty good job of protecting it from the weather.

Here a couple of piccys of the trip and of us, starting to strip her down.
By the way the primer that has been put on is just to protect the bare metal in till it’s ready for further loving soon :)

You wouldnt happen to live in Hawthorne as in the 4171 area?
If so that would be so cool :D

That's a great story. Doesn't need words. Makin' a big ol mess there in the front yard. Splitty's taking over. Looks like a great one to start with too. I'll recover that front seat of yours for nix. Can't have that floral thing goin' on. Congrats, looks like you're on a winner there.

Nice one - looks pretty solid.

Was this where the semaphores would have been?

Image

Are you gonna try and get a set and get them working again or would it be too hard if they've been welded up?

Cheers

Nick.

Hi Nick
I say we will be putting semaphores back in the old girl :D
They are just a couple of little tack welds

Hey Jack - yep, hawthorne mate. I thought those streets and houses looked familiar. Have sent you a PM with some details. Be good to catch up.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update, the whole outside of the kombi is finally finished being sanded! :D
Now for the next piece of exciting news, last Saturday we dropped the kombi up to Alan (Dasdubber) for him to carry out the rest of the resto :D :D :D
