Cheers guys, heres a few more pics of my last efforts. Me ol mate Mozzie called past to give me a hand re-pinning the front cargo door hinge. Here he is sussin out the panel gaps after we fitted them up, they got the nod



Then I got back around to fixing the rusty ends on the "I" beam strengtheners to meet up with the inner sill panel. So I made up some "I" beam with folded sections. It's probably easier to just buy new, but they were not available when I started repairing them this way.


Instead of folding the ends over as per factory, I cut up plates an welded them to the ends (just as strong an gives more surface area to weld my inner sill panel to.



Still gotta grind back the welds.

Got the inner rocker welded in and primed.

hahaha yeah looks like a crook, he shouldn't be left unsupervised under any circumstance. I think he associates with those shady blokes on the "luft". hahahaha

I couldn't get my hands on a "b" pillar inner so Al (Dasdubber) kindly went on a rummage through his personal box of bits and found me a "b" pillar inner that needed just a small repair. I was happy to do for a piece of the funky green. So I took care of that as I'm coming up to fitting that and the cargo door sill/rocker panel. So thanks to Al, for helpin out a filthy sandgroper

I didn't like the way the front all comes together leaving a gap on both sides next to the "A" pillars. So cut up some 1mm and plated them up. I was worried about wind noise an water splashing up (probly won't happen).
Did this for both sides.





I'm getting close to fitting up the front lower section, so I had to take off the front passenger door. I managed to get 7 out of the 8 bolts without stripping the heads but there is always one! so I drilled it out and welded a bolt onto it. great success!

Just make sure you use a high tensile bolt too, tried it with a normal one and "snap"

Yep 8.8, only way to go.

When I weld on a bolt I crank my welder right up and cut off the thread and weld at the shank.

Sorry only got phone pics of todays happenings, a little bit fuzzy.
Had a productive few hours. Got the front panel lined up, cut to size an tacked in along the top edge. All the edges lining up really well. Pretty happy with the quality and fit of this autocraft panel. next step folding the sides over the "A" pillars. Good thing that Mozz called round to lend a hand, a second set of hands definitely helps for this job. Cheers mate.

Looks good I too have to do that job and was wondering if I leave the nose in place and cut around it like I've seen. The autocraft panel looks a perfect fit!
