BUT

LEO IS SICK
just got in...
i took him out on a nice sunny drive this afternoon. 30 mins in pulling off main road, change down to third... POP :?
i thought id blown a fan belt or something :x ... nothing wrong, nothing looked wrong. drove home 8km with this clunking/knocking noise... it was like cloths in the dryer with 3 bolts tossed in.
3,4,5 calls the doctor muller... CV's, engine mounts, swing arm, IRS, hand brake cable, rear drums all checked... fUcKiNg nothing
took him for another quick drive (500m) same noise. spewing, dont know what it is... can NOT find anything. no oil leaks. all bolts tight... my worst fear... something internal... tomorrow will tell... just another day of a kombi owner

Does it do it when stationary? Or does it only do it when driving?

did you check that all the cv bolts are tight or that maybe one or more of the ball bearings are shattered in the cv's.
the other i don't want to mention main bearing, hope its nothing to do with it but its a worst case scenario, i say that as in our bus the main bearing is not as tight as it should be(has play in it) & soon its going to go .

Are you sure it's not the bolts on the outer CV on drivers side, are all six bolts still there. Cheers, Mike

well that must be a relief, its not good but its not too bad its a bit of welding rather than motor/gearbox.

looks like it was fatigued for a while , get a large 3mm plate welded behind it plug welded to frame then weld shock mount to it , should spread the load a bit better. hows the other side?

Good work mate. I'd be pretty happy if I found that was the issue. Easy fix really (though a touch fiddly).

You gotta stop taking Leo off those jumps mate.

You'll have this all wrapped up by Sunday though yeah? ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
