Xmas and NY with the bus...WARNING! Not riveting reading!

Post by DubbinDan »

After ironing out a few bugs over the preceding months the Bus was ready for it's first BIG trip. Bought a tent and almost everything else you could imagine, packed up and hit the road for our Xmas Vacation - Griswold style. Destination - Sandon River just South of Angourie in the Yuraygir National Park.

I guess this is the 2008 version of the holiday slide show. Anyway it was a trip in a split. We made it back in one piece having had an awesome holiday.

Second Morning - "Ooohh I get by with a little help from my friends"

Pulley disintegrated between Taree and Pt Macquaire and shredded the alternator housing shorting it in the process. Not pretty.

George - Classic Vee Dub - couriered a replacement unit up overnight. Thanks George.

Staying buff while killing time awaiting said replacement in Motel.

Replacement unit was fitted in a small town called Laureton. However, picked another strange noise just south of Grafton. Made it to the campsite. Guess who was staying just up the road? The next morning the man himself came to visit to make sure all was OK.

Steve managed to strip and re-assemble the top end in an hour or so. After test driving it at 70mph on the gravel road Steve was satisfied it would be OK. He was right - no more troubles.

Y'know, ccc, it's quite scarey as I thought exactly the same thing.
Great minds, eh?
Good story, Dan, and lovely pics.
