Maiden voyage

Post by Kombi Trip »

+Well the logical progression from a long saga is members rides/resto is a post here.
Took the panel for it's first road trip on the weekend. It only had 50 miles on the clock before Friday .... now has 900 miles! Used the VW drags at Portland as the excuse for the trip. Met 3 other DSKers which was great.
Crap weather in Vic of course. Now I can never say the bus has never been driven in the rain. Poured for hours and yes, the safaris leak!

How nice is that? You do nice stuff Nick. Signage is great. That SA Club logo is such a good looking thing.
So, you didn't tell us how it drove!

Great to meet you too sneak_e! Can't wait to see some 'real' photos instead of my holiday snaps.

Thanks for the kind words Brad. The bus drove pretty well actuallyy guys! It pops out of second gear when not under load as (ok if you hold it there). Hard to test the box not in the car so it went in as it was. The reduction hubs(?) were a bit noisey (whiney - if thats's a word) but the motor was amazing (GHR did the original motor up). The steering is great - I don't think it had a wheel alignment even as I put the rims on at home. All new tyres, shocks etc and new drums, brake lines etc., All the electrics were perfect even in the rain.

I really enjoyed the driving and the company. But we were a bit squished with 3 across the front seat.
