Great story!!!! I love the original documentation and that you're only the 3rd owner
Fantastic score, and yes Patina (as opposed to rust). You must be understandably stoked!

My Dad's Kombi circa 1967 at Taronga Zoo. I'm the light weight with the skinny legs, my older brother is doing the roof jump!

I bet you cant wait for yours to be up and running I'd recommend using "GFresh" adjustable springplates too. I reckon there's an opportunity for a photo shoot, I'd be interested to see how far apart the vin numbers are.PASHN8 wrote:Thanks guys for the kind words, i'm a very happy lad!

A good friend of ours, Steve Seres, reckons that the OG owner was his granddad
cheers Peter

Update time!
So after much research, the decision was made to repair the roof properly rather than the patch job I was trying to get away with.
Back on the truck, and this time to headed to Sasha @ Delux Kustoms who needs no introduction.
First up was blending the paint and some light filler work on the previously repaired areas:
After discussing a game plan, it was time to buzz the roof back and see exactly what lay beneath the small few holes that we could see.
Before long over 70+ hold were discovered in the roof skin:
Lots of welding, shrinking, stretching and cooling resulted in filling all the holes completely, a great test of patience. Roof then deoxydened and washed twice:
Roof painted, red oxided, dove blue'd, rubbed back again, aged and blended, hard to tell it was every touched, and definitely not noticeable to someone who hadn't seen the holes beforeahand, so very happy with this result:
Front and rear end blended and sealed:
Original front bench retrimmed by the talented Dave from Volkstrim in matching black vinyl to the original material using original padding.
Great progress so far, and more updates to come!
